Il progetto I See You See Me affronta il passaggio dall’infanzia all’età adulta – transizione che si manifesta attraverso molteplici cambiamenti, spesso evidenti – rappresentandone un aspetto specifico: la graduale presa di consapevolezza di sé. 
Fotografando a più riprese persone tra i 10 e i 18 anni evidenzio il passaggio
dalla natura di bambina, osservata e accudita dai genitori, a ragazza
consapevole del proprio sguardo e quindi osservatrice attiva.
Tale transizione accade gradualmente, e gradualmente si rivela anche nella serie di fotografie attraverso una crescente intensità dello sguardo. Se inizialmente le ragazze accettano di essere fotografate soltanto ad occhi chiusi oppure distolgono lo sguardo,
con il tempo trovano il coraggio di sostenere un confronto visivo
 rivolgendosi direttamente alla fotocamera.

Essendo una transizione così delicata e intangibile, le stesse ragazze non ne sono coscienti fino al momento in cui, rivedendo le fotografie realizzate a mesi di distanza, si rendono conto della consapevolezza acquisita nel mentre.

E proprio la sensazione di potente empatia che provo nel momento in cui
per la prima volta incrocio lo sguardo con ogni soggetto fotografato
è ciò che mi spinge a proseguire la ricerca fotografica.
In qualche modo, l’orgoglioso fiorire di queste persone mi rende orgogliosa
di essere umana come loro.

Le bambine e ragazze fotografate sono per lo più incontrate nella vita quotidiana e avvicinate. Una volta ottenuto il permesso dei genitori, inizia un dialogo che porta poi progressivamente a realizzare le fotografie che compongono il progetto.

The project I See You See Me deals with the passage from childhood to adulthood - a transition that is manifested through many changes, often evident - representing a specific aspect of it: the gradual assumption of self-awareness. 
By repeatedly photographing people between the ages of 10 and 18, I highlight the transition from the nature of a child, observed and cared for by her parents, to a girl who is aware of her own gaze and therefore an active observer.
This transition happens gradually, and gradually is also revealed in the series of photographs through an increasing intensity of gaze. If at first the girls accept to be photographed only with their eyes closed or look away, with time they find the courage to sustain a visual confrontation by addressing themselves directly to the camera.

Being such a delicate and intangible transition, the girls themselves are not aware of it until the moment in which, reviewing the photographs taken months later, they realize the awareness acquired in the meantime.

And it is precisely the feeling of powerful empathy that I feel when for the first time I cross my gaze with each photographed subject that pushes me to continue my photographic research.
Somehow, the proud flourishing of these people makes me proud to be as human as they are.

The girls and young women photographed are mostly encountered in everyday life and approached. Once the parents' permission is obtained, a dialogue begins that then gradually leads to the realization of the photographs that make up the project.
